CEDA's Driver, vehicle and mobility event will provide an interanational perspective on addressing the policy, planning and infrastructure issues arsing from an ageing Australian population.
EVENT OVERVIEW
CEDA's drivers, vehicles & mobility event will lead
discussion on the broad transport needs and realities for Australia
as our population continues to age at an increasing rate - by
2041, the ABS predicts that one in five people will be over 65 and
7% of the population will be aged over 80.
While as a society we have achieved great personal mobility by
car travel, particularly given the sheer scale of our country and
the relatively small population, our ageing population profile
will put increasing pressure on our personal mobility and
inturn our policy makers and planners.
MEET THE SPEAKERS
CEDA is delighted to welcome for the first time to Australia,
internationally renowned mobility expert Dr Elin Schold
Davis, from the American Occupational Therapy Association,
to share her thoughts and insights on how the US is grappling with
this issue and the implications and synergies for Australia.
Dr Davis will be joined by Council of the Ageing SA (COTA) Chief
Executive Ian Yates AM, to lead a panel discussion
on the key issues.
Additional panel speakers will be confirmed early in 2010.
