EVENT OVERVIEW

As Australia's population increases rapidly, many issues confront policy reformers and decision makers. Today's infrastructure and policies will need to adapt for sustainable economic development and accommodate a growing population.

Underpinning significant changes will be the ways in which labour is sourced and organised to address unemployment, underemployment and a skills shortage.

CEDA's lunchtime event will focus on achieving what can be done to address disparities between employers' workforce needs and the capacity of Australia's population to meet those needs.

As part of this discussion, Scott Morrison, Shadow Minister for Immigration and Citizenship will focus on how immigration policy can ease the strain on labour supply.

Renowned demographer Professor Peter McDonald will reflect on the implications of structural skill shortages and population growth.
