The Copland Program - Brisbane

View Copland Brisbane's frequently asked questions

The Copland program is CEDA's professional development program for future leaders from organisations across the business, government, academic and community sectors.

In Queensland the program is proudly presented in conjunction with The University of Queensland Business School (UQ).  The UQ Business School is Australia's first business school to achieve dual accreditation from AACSB International and EQUIS - the world's pre-eminent accrediting bodies.  Dual accreditation means that the UQ Business School is recognised as a formally benchmarked, premium business school.

CEDA and UQ - Partners in Leadership

CEDA and UQ are proud to partner on the Copland Program. CEDA brings to the program unparalleled access to Australia's leaders and an understanding of emerging issues and challenges for business. UQ complements the program with its expertise in delivering successful leadership programs. The Copland Program is named in recognition of Sir Douglas Copland, the founding Chairman of CEDA.

Industry and Public Sector Experts

This important part of the program provides participants with invaluable on-the-ground exposure to issues faced and solutions reached by leading practitioners operating in the field. This enforces and compliments the theoretical leanings by providing tried and tested real life examples, approaches and techniques.

CEDA will bring leading experts from industry, peak bodies, professional services, transport, human resources, Information Technology, retail, manufacturing, utilities, communications, statutory bodies and major portfolio public sector departments.  Each expert speaker will share their insights and successes in leadership roles as well as the challenges faced and lessons learned in dynamic careers.

Throughout the ten  interactive modules (six half day and two full day sessions) conducted centrally at UQ Business School Downtown, Central Plaza Brisbane, participants will address the crucial elements that senior management confronts on a regular basis. The course runs monthly from April to November.

Lead by UQ's most senior and experienced presenters, attendees will receive the right balance between the latest in academic principles and real-world case studies as two of CEDA's leading members on the topic provide first-hand knowledge and experiences to share with the cohort for each workshop.  Attendees work in syndicate groups.

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL) Accreditation

At the conclusion of the course in November, each syndicate presents their summation of the findings from the program to a selection of Brisbane's elite business leaders.

When attendees complete the program and achieve required competencies in their assessments The University of Queensland will apply RPL (Recognised Prior Learning) accreditation and award two (2) university credit points toward further studies for the attendee.

This is a unique advantage only available through the Queensland CEDA-UQ  Copland program.

This is in addition to the prestigious CEDA-UQ Certificate of Attainment which is presented at the Graduation Dinner.  2010 attendees will become the foundation Copland alumni for Queensland.
