Five reasons to join CEDA

1. Independent, outcomes-based research on Australia's economy

CEDA has a reputation for being independent, well informed and identifying good policy outcomes. Research is based on collaboration between Australia's best business and academic minds, and feedback from members.

CEDA aims to improve understanding of Australia's biggest economic challenges - such as infrastructure, water and climate change - and provide clear solutions for them.

2. Understand Australia's business and economic challenges

CEDA is Australia's platform of choice for economic, business and policy discussion. The annual forum and event program features Australia's business and opinion leaders, government ministers, senior public servants and international figures.

Attending CEDA events and forums will improve your knowledge and understanding of the Australian and international economic, business and policy debate.

CEDA events and forums also provide opportunities for networking and interaction with speakers.

3. Professional development

Emerging leaders can take part in CEDA's Copland Program for Emerging Leaders, run in partnership with Australia's best executive education business schools.

CEDA facilitates innovative CEO and CFO roundtables.

CEDA forums and events deliver knowledge and insights from Australia's business and opinion leaders, government ministers, senior public servants and international figures, helping people make informed decisions.

4. Hosting and sponsorship opportunities

CEDA members have access to preferential sponsorship opportunities for CEDA research and forums, reaching Australia's business, academic and political communities. Members can host trustee-only boardroom briefings and corporate tables at events.

5.  As a CEDA trustee, advance Australia's economic development by contributing to research and forums

CEDA's trustees play a particularly important role. As the nation's business and public policy leaders, CEDA trustees offer their vision and ideas to advance Australia's economic development. In return, they have exclusive access to CEDA's research, forums and events, networking, and professional development programs.

When an organisation joins CEDA, they nominate trustees to represent them as part of their CEDA membership. The number of trustees an organisation can nominate is determined by the level of membership.

Trustees represent their organisation at CEDA events and forums, including annual events such as the State of the Nation and the Economic and Political Overview. Trustees also host and attend boardroom briefings with other trustees, and take part in CEDA's professional development programs including CEO and CFO Roundtables.

Trustees can also participate in CEDA Research reference groups, and are the first to receive new research and notification about forums and events.

Member satisfaction

CEDA took part in the 2009 Annual Business and Professions Study - an annual survey of members from 47 different associations. According to our members, CEDA ranked first for overall performance (88% rated our performance as 'good' or 'excellent'), and first for reputation (92% believe CEDA has a good reputation in the business community).

Our strengths are:

  • supporting the development of knowledge and skills
  • providing leadership in the field
  • building the standing of its members
  • providing an opportunity for members to participate in policy development.
