trade2020

Organised by Austrade and the Committee for Economic Development of Australia (CEDA), Trade 2020 was a series of high-level forums that generates ideas and vision for Australia's trade and investment success in the decade ahead.

The program brought together leaders from government, industry and academia to capture the most innovative ideas to boost Australia's global competitiveness.

The forum

Trade 2020 opened with a flagship conference in Melbourne on Wednesday 26 August, followed by five strategic dialogues across the nation's State capitals to address specific aspects of trade and investment in the areas of, Creative Capital/Education, Global Supply Chains, Climate Change, Trade Finance and Innovation.

Trade 2020 concluded with a closing function, Parliament House, with speakers from each of the dialogues and opening conference providing a presentation on the key issues addressed in the strategic dialogues.

Australian Chief Executive article

An article summarising the forums was published in the Australian Chief Executive magazine. Forum attendees and speakers examined the need for a borderless economy and the impacts of China. Panels discussed population growth, infrastructure and education, building a trading nation, perceptions of Australia, competing in a crowded market and kick starting the global economy.
