CEDA established CEO roundtables in 2003–04 as peer group support networks for CEOs of CEDA member organisations. Building on the success of these forums, CEDA began planning for a series of CFO roundtables during 2008–09 in response to the challenges now facing CFOs.
The roundtables bring together a small group of CEOs or CFOs to share their insights and experiences and assist in leadership development. The roundtables are open to CEOs and CFOs of CEDA member organisations.
-
A unique peer group of CEOs or CFOs to assist in the development of roundtable members and their businesses
-
The opportunity to compare and benchmark business practices across industries
-
A ‘meeting of minds’ and open discussion on topics selected by participants
-
The opportunity to gain new insights and understanding of current economic and business issues
-
The chance to identify public policy issues for CEDA’s research agenda.
How the roundtables work
Leaders from industry, government and academia meet every two months in roundtables of approximately 15 members. Meetings are facilitated by experienced and well-recognised chairs – leaders in their own right. On occasion, experts from
Australia’s best business schools or consultancies provide support in specific areas of interest.
Topics for discussion are determined by each roundtable. Topics typically reflect critical leadership issues, including talent management, productivity, governance, risk management, organisational culture and, of course, leadership.
Meetings are held at CEDA offices or hosted at participating organisations’ premises.
The relaxed and confidential environment enables participants to gain insights into each others’ organisations and the challenges they face.
The roundtable program operates in two streams: CEO and CFO roundtables. They are open to CEOs and CFOs of member organisations.
CEDA has around 12 active roundtables in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth.
Each roundtable is formed with participants from non-competing organisations.
