Research and Policy
Consistent with its founding principles, CEDA publishes
objective analyses of key issues critical to Australia's
economic development. CEDA produces well-informed, research-based
publications and an international and distinguished network of
academic and applied expertise, including some of the world's most
creative thinkers.
Through our forums and publications, CEDA reaches tens of
thousands of Australians each year. CEDA's independence also
provides it with the capacity to speak directly to government at a
federal and state level, unhindered by vested interests.
Our research identifies and offers solutions for issues that
influence the nation's long-term economic, social and environmental
development. CEDA publishes its research regularly in reports and
on the Web.
What guides CEDA's research objectives?
Our research agenda centres on five themes, developed after
consultation with our members on the major issues facing Australia
over the next decade. These themes are:
- Foundations for Economic Growth - this theme includes trade and
international relations, infrastructure, energy, technology and
innovation, tax, regulation and federal-state relations
- Building Human Capital - includes education and learning,
ageing, health and healthcare, workforce participation and
indigenous affairs
- Sustainable Development - includes water issues and climate
change
- Emerging Issues
- State Issues
CEDA is a "virtual think-tank". Rather than relying on in-house
experts, we work with the best independent experts on any economic
development subject. We frequently work in partnership with
universities, other non-profits and member organisations. The
quality and independence of CEDA's research program has earned its
reputation as Australia's leading non-partisan think-tank on
economic and business issues.
