Position overview

CEDA is seeking a skilled editor with a strong notion of brand and an eye for detail to manage the publication production for a minimum of eight reports each year.

This role is responsible for managing the completion of each of these reports to strict deadlines from editing and proof-reading material and sourcing images, infographics and interactive content to liaising with authors, designers and printers and managing approvals. CEDA is currently shifting to a focus on interactive digital content and this role will support the research team in developing sharp and engaging content through our publications and for our online platforms.

Additionally, this position will be required to complete news write-ups from CEDA events for the website and writing, proof reading and editing marketing material as needed.  


  • Editing and proof-reading research contributions;
  • Manage internal and external approvals for publications including from contributing authors;
  • Assisting with updating, editing and proof-reading marketing copy;
  • Liaise with designers on publication ‘look and feel’ ensuring they meet CEDA brand standards;
  • Writing news articles and other material as required for the CEDA website and CEDA newsletter;
  • Regular liaison with high level external stakeholders; 
  • Commissioning and editing blog contributions; and
  • Production of monthly e-newsletter.

Required qualifications and experience

Professional attributes

  • Demonstrated experience in managing publication production with a minimum five years of previous experience;
  • Proven copy-editing skills and outstanding attention to detail;
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent in communications, marketing or journalism;
  • Previous experience liaising with high level stakeholders;
  • Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills;
  • Strong IT skills including Adobe Creative Suite and website CMS; and
  • Previous exposure to a policy or research environment.

Personal attributes

  • Ability to achieve results within time constraints and conflicting priorities;
  • Ability to work methodically and with outstanding attention to detail;
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team environment; and
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with all levels of management.
