Director, People and Culture: Belinda Gleeson

CEDA Director, People and Culture, Belinda Gleeson, shares what she's working on and what she is excited about in our new program of work.

Describe your role at CEDA

I lead the People & Culture team and work closely with our leadership team to help our people to deliver on CEDA’s purpose – engaging with our members to identify issues that matter and to pursue solutions that deliver better economic and social outcomes for Australia. The CEDA values sit at the core of our organisation, enabling us to implement organisational culture and engagement initiatives, and to attract great people who share our purpose and develop their capabilities as we continue to increase our voice and impact.

What do you think makes CEDA unique?

CEDA has a unique ability to influence the policy landscape for the greater good of Australia. As a respected and independent think tank for the past 60 years we have a variety of platforms that enable us to inform, develop ideas and promote debate on critical issues. Our people bring diverse perspectives, a shared team commitment and a passion for providing our members with insights and ideas.

What excites you about CEDA's new program of work?

2020 has been a challenging year for us as it has been for most of our member organisations. However it has also enabled our teams to experiment with new ideas and to be more nimble in our approach. I am excited about the new range of opportunities our members have to engage with CEDA, whether that is through our research discussions, trustee roundtables or our traditional events. Personally, I am thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to meet many of our members through our ongoing HR Roundtable discussions. If you’d like to participate in these discussions please get in touch.

What are you working on now?

Like HR leaders everywhere, I am continuing to support our people and workplace through the COVID pandemic. There is no playbook for how we manage this pandemic, but engagement, wellbeing, capability development and organisational design continue to be key focus areas. I am excited about working with a great team of people who love a laugh, have awesome team spirit and are equally passionate about their roles and the opportunity to influence Australia’s economic development. We have recently recruited some amazing new team members who bring fresh ideas and diverse industry perspectives that will assist us in delivering our strategy. Our future is bright and I’m really excited to be part of it.
