Tim Harcourt


Tim Harcourt is a member of the CEDA Council on Economic Policy, which comprises some of Australia's best and brightest policy minds, and guides CEDA's research agenda.

Tim is the J.W.Nevile Fellow in Economics at the UNSW Australia Business School in Sydney and teaches International Business Experience in the AGSM MBA programme in Asia, in China, India, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and now more recently in Latin America in Chile and Brazil.

Tim is formerly the Chief Economist of the Australian Trade Commission (AUSTRADE), and has worked as an economist at the ACTU and the Reserve Bank of Australia and in the private sector in the UK, USA and Israel. He has been an economic adviser to 3 Labor Cabinet Ministers and 2 Labor Premiers.
Tim is also currently Adviser- International Engagement to the Premier of South Australia, Hon. Jay Weatherill, MP and an Expert Panel Member of the Fair Work Commission.

Tim was educated at the University of Adelaide, University of Minnesota, and Harvard University.
Tim is the author of six books on international business including: Beyond Our Shores, Going the Distance, Great Southern Lands – Building Bridges between Australia and Brazil, Latin Lessons - Australia and Latin America face the Asia Pacific Century, Trading Places, and the international best seller The Airport Economist.
