EVENT OVERVIEW

In 2011, CEDA continues to advance critical discussion around the energy sector and energy policy through the Energy Series. This series will provide an overview covering issues including energy security, reliability and long-term investment in the energy sector.

TRUenergy reached an agreement with the NSW Government in December 2010 to acquire EnergyAustralia's retail business, the Delta Western gentrader bundle for the Mount Piper (1400MW) and Wallerawang (1000MW) coal-fired power stations, and three power station development sites as part of the NSW Government energy privatisation program. The acquisition will be completed by 1 March 2011.

In the opening session for the series, CEDA is delighted to welcome Richard McIndoe, Managing Director for TRUenergy. Richard will discuss what the sale means for the security of supply and investment in generation in the NSW energy market, as well as the implications for retail competition for NSW consumers.

Richard will be joined by industry expert David Leitch, Utilities Analyst for UBS Australia, who will provide commentary on the NSW Government energy privatisation program.
