Most observers of the future of the global economy agree that the cloud will dominate the means by which all economic activities occur. However, what is not widely understood is how the actual information (digital content) that is created and used in the cloud by people and machines will be managed in order to create this economic impact.

The existence in digital form of this information has created new and unforeseen regulatory and compliance challenges for organisations.

Since the cloud as an infrastructure is the same for everyone, managing content in the cloud is critical for any organisation to create competitive advantage.

Organisations that create this advantage can exploit the opportunities presented while balancing the new regulatory and litigious challenges in the digital economy. As with other technological innovations, it is the tool-users and not the tool-makers that have the lasting impact on societies and economies. Exploring the art of managing content in the cloud is an interesting journey into understanding how advantages will be created in the future digital economy.
