EVENT OVERVIEW
For over 40 years, Australia has had a growing trade relationship with Asia, but policy needs to move beyond transactional based relations.
The prosperity of Australia, during the immediate natural resources boom and beyond, calls for a deeper intellectual engagement.
With the appointment of a new Foreign Minister and the upcoming release of the White Paper on Australia in the Asian Century, what foreign and economic policies will foster such intellectual engagement?
Join CEDA to hear one of Australia's most respected commentators and researchers, Dr Michael Wesley, Executive Director for the Lowy Institute for International Policy.
Dr Wesley will examine:
• The global economy in our region and changing dynamics
• South East Asia - the real point of transition - and how Australia should take advantage
• The danger of Australia being 'wedged' between two global economic super powers - China and the US.
