Event overview

CEDA is delighted to welcome Minister for Health and Minister for Medical Research, Jillian Skinner, to present the keynote address at CEDA's NSW Health Update for 2013.

The health industry is the largest employer of workers in Australia and is increasing with the ageing population and increased demand for health services.

Recent OECD figures state that Australia's total health spend accounts for more than nine per cent of GDP, in line with many other countries with growing health spends.

The demand for skills, technology, research, infrastructure and innovation in a sophisticated system is complex. Regulatory and social changes have seen landmark shifts in the way health services are designed, administered and evaluated.

This event will cover three different perspectives on key areas of health. Ms Skinner will cover government priorities such as funding for assets, skills, new technologies and the administration of healthcare at local and regional levels.

Hospital chairman and investment banker Richard Alcock will cover local health districts from a board perspective in terms of management and responsibility.

Internationally-recognised UTS health researcher Dr Terry Flynn will present his findings on quality of life attitudes and end-of-life care, in the context of aged care efficiencies and better healthcare.

Join us for an in-depth discussion on the building blocks for long term efficiencies and benefits in the health sector.
