EVENT OVERVIEW
CEDA welcomes Minister for Resources and Energy, Gary Gray to deliver the keynote address at CEDA's second NSW Energy Series event for 2013.
The energy sector contributes nearly $70 billion of gross value added to the economy, and Australian energy exports account for one-third of total commodity exports (BREE and ABS: 2012).
However, the industry faces stark challenges from productivity concerns through to complex stakeholder needs.
The Minister's address will explore:
Energy reform priorities at government and industry level;
Improving market and regulatory efficiencies;
New technologies and alternative energy sources;
Current and future energy demands; and
Preserving unique resources and consumer education.

MEET THE SPEAKER
The Hon Gary Gray AO MP
Minister for Resources and Energy, Minister for Tourism and Minister for Small Business
In March 2013, Gary joined Cabinet and became Minister for Resources and Energy, Minister for Tourism and Minister for Small Business. Prior to this he was appointed Special Minister of State and Minister for the Public Service and Integrity, and in 2007 was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Development and Northern Australia. In 2009, he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary for Western and Northern Australia.
In 2003 Gary was invited to accept the high civil award of Officer in the Order of Australia (AO) and an Australia Medal.
An economics graduate from ANU in 1981, he later began working for the Labor Party, eventually becoming National Secretary. Other roles include Executive Director of the West Australian Institute for Medical Research and as an adviser and Director of Corporate Affairs for Woodside.
