CEDA NSW's CEO Vision series promotes original thinking and debate about progressing Australia towards an economically, socially and environmentally sustainable future.

CEDA is pleased to welcome Mark Burgess, Managing Director, Future Fund to present on the Global Outlook: Priorities and challenges for investors.

The Future Fund was established in 2006 to assist future Australian governments to meet the cost of unfunded public sector superannuation liabilities by delivering investment returns on contributions to the Fund. The Future Fund has grown to over $85 billion on contributions of just over $60 billion, generating annualised returns of 6.4% per annum over the last five years.

"Investors need to understand the risks they're taking in pursuing returns. We think hard and constantly about how to achieve the required long-term returns without exposing the Fund to undue potential for capital loss," Mark Burgess, Managing Director of the Future Fund.

Mark will outline the Future Fund's approach to growing the assets of the Fund while managing risk in line with its long term mandate and discuss how the Fund approaches its task as the global economy continues to adjust.
