EVENT OVERVIEW
If you step into one out of four of Australia's top boardrooms you will not see a woman sitting at the table. Only 15.8 per cent of directors on ASX200 company boards are women and a total of 49 of these 200 boards do not have any women on them at all. (Australian Institute of Company Directors, July 2013).
Gender balance on boards and at management level can drive greater productivity and higher competition. But should gender quotas be mandated or is merit based promotion enough to achieve gender balance at senior levels?
The variety of board representation is a matter of growth, business and sustainability. This is why the mandated quotas versus voluntary merit based are an ongoing debate for companies.
In the third session of CEDA's Women in Leadership Series in NSW, presenters will discuss a variety of perspectives on the issue of quotas with the importance of a diversified workforce across all sectors and which firms are achieving higher competitiveness and productive gains.
