Event overview
The gender pay gap in Australia is at its widest in two decades. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the average full time wage for women has dropped to 81.8 per cent of the average full time wage for men, down from an 85 per cent high.
Additionally, as ambitions for gender pay equity continue to slip remaining in the background of political discourse and community debate, pipelines of female talent are not delivering upon the hoped for upward gender migration.
This session will examine the structural reforms needed for a modern economy, labour market and workplace, to achieve gender equality across hierarchies, ensuring equal representation and pay equity for both genders.
CEDA presents a distinguished line-up of speakers to discuss:
- Industries with high pay gaps and what employers are doing to close it;
- Industry segmentation and gender attrition;
- Gender and ‘authority’ – the double bind of negotiation reluctance and perception;
- What leaders can do to take action on industry ‘like for like’ gaps;
- Career gaps and penalties; and
- The cost to government revenue and GDP by women’s tax forgone.
