EVENT OVERVIEW
Siemens Energy, Global Chief Technology Officer, Professor Dr Michael Weinhold will provide an international energy futures overview and lead discussion on the four part energy equation, including:
- Renewable energy - generation and distribution;
- Demand-side drivers - efficiencies and cities' demands;
- Righting policy - structures, motivations and incentives; and
- Willingness for change - suppliers, retailers and consumers.
Professor Dr Weinhold oversees one of the world's largest environment technology portfolios. Siemens invests around $5 billion in research and development annually and employs nearly 30,000 researchers, with a focus on power generation including renewables, distribution, storage and efficiency.

Professor Dr Michael Weinhold, Global Chief Technology Officer, Siemens Energy
Professor Dr Michael Weinhold has worked in network planning, as technical director for Static VarCompensator technology and led the Technology and Innovation Department for Power Transmission and Distribution. Until 2008 Dr Weinhold served on the International Electrotechnical Commission SC 22F standardisation committee for Power Electronics in Transmission and Distribution Systems. Since 2008 he has held the role of Chief Technology Officer for Siemens.
Professor Tim Flannery, former Chief Commissioner, Australian Climate Commission
Professor Tim Flannery is a scientist, explorer and conservationist. He a member of the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists and was named Australian of the Year in 2007.
