Event overview

With the Sunshine Coast regional economy worth approximately $13 billion and having recently delivered the $848 million budget for 2019/20, Mayor Mark Jamieson will provide an update on Council’s economic initiatives and region shaping projects.

The Sunshine Coast is the tenth largest ‘significant urban area’ in Australia by population and is predicted to grow to 470,000 by 2036. The Sunshine Coast Council is tasked with providing a framework for infrastructure planning and investment to ensure sustainable growth, global economic competitiveness and urban development into the future.

Cr Mark Jamieson
Mayor, Sunshine Coast Council

Councillor Mark Jamieson is currently serving his second term as Mayor of Sunshine Coast Regional Council. He has led the development of a 20 year blueprint for a new economy for the Sunshine Coast, as well as the implementation of a new planning scheme.

He was elected as President of the Local Government Association of Queensland in 2016 and sits on the Board of Directors for the Australian Local Government Association, The Council of Mayors South East Queensland.
