Event overview

CEDA welcomes back to the lectern Bernard Salt AM to lead a discussion on how it is time for South Australia and Adelaide to “shake the shackles” of the Eastern Seaboard and position ourselves globally as “the place to do business”, delivering the jobs, prosperity and lifestyle within a global economy of the future.

South Australia is undergoing significant economic transformation, with the recent end of car manufacturing in Australia when General Motors Holden’s Elizabeth Plant rolled its last Australian made vehicle off the line.  Renewable energy solutions and innovation are generating continued discussion and putting South Australia on an international stage.

South Australia has now risen to fourth within CommSec’s quarterly State of the States, driving strength in the jobs market. Over recent years it is clear that there are significant opportunities and competitive advantages within the advanced agriculture, higher education, ageing, defence and innovation sectors.  Combine this with its liveability, high levels of affordability and its entrepreneurship culture, South Australia must seize the opportunity right now, with business, government, academia and the broader community working together to drive the State’s future.

This event will provide key South Australian leaders the opportunity to hear how we can leverage South Australia’s competitive advantage right now, as we look forward to change the narrative around South Australia, away from the burden of old industries, infrastructure and population, to a vision of innovation, opportunity, diversification and long term sustainability.  Ensuring South Australia is a place where people do great business and live here for the lifestyle.
