Event overview

The Ambassadors will discuss several aspects of Australia's relationship with Latin America including The Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR) which was established by the Australian Government in 2001 to enhance Australia’s economic, political and social relations with Latin America, in the priority areas of business, education, sustainability, tourism and cultural promotion. 
 

This briefing is by invitation only to CEDA Trustees. Trustees are senior leaders nominated by CEDA member organisations. At CEDA boardroom briefings Trustees hear from an informed, expert guest speaker in a private, small group setting. Invitations to boardroom briefings are a valued benefit of CEDA membership. Meet the speakers

Sophie Davies
Ambassador to Colombia, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)

Ms Davies is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and has previously served as Deputy Head of Mission, Australian Embassy, Lima. Ms Davies holds a Masters of Evaluation from the University of Melbourne; a Masters of Social Science (International Development) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology; and a Bachelor of Economics/Laws from the University of Sydney.

Robert Fergusson
Ambassador to Chile, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT)

Mr Fergusson is a career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. He has served overseas as Counsellor at the Australian Embassy in Beijing, with earlier postings to Timor-Leste, Hong Kong and Indonesia. In Canberra Mr Fergusson served as Director of the Papua New Guinea Section and the Counter-Terrorism Section. He has also worked as Senior Adviser in the Office of the Minister for Foreign Affairs. Mr Fergusson holds a Master of International Law from the ANU and a Bachelor of Arts and Law from the University of Sydney.
