The Takeovers Panel, entering its 10 year, was established to efficiently and effectively resolve disputes during takeover bids. The Panel's members are active representatives of Australia's legal and business communities. Panel President, Simon McKeon and some of his Panel colleagues, will discuss the role and work of the Panel, some of its key decisions and the necessity for the Panel going forward.

OVERVIEW

At this CEDA discussion forum, Simon McKeon and his Takeovers Panel colleagues will discuss the development of the Panel and takeovers regulation, and will provide an overview of the Takeovers Code, the prohibitions and the gateways.

They will also look at the Panel members and their qualifications, the role of the Panel Executive, its processes, and the challenges for the Panel as it enters its second decade in operation.

Simon McKeon, President, The Takeovers Panel and Executive Chairman Melbourne Office, Macquarie Group Ltd

Simon McKeon is President of The Takeovers Panel, the primary forum for resolving disputes about a takeover bid until the bid period has ended. The Panel is a peer review body, with part time members appointed from the active members of Australia's takeovers and business communities.

Simon is also Executive Chairman of Macquarie Group's Melbourne office; and Chairman of Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia, Essendon Football Club's Hutchison Foundation and Business for Millennium Development.
