North Central Victoria (Loddon Mallee) is a region of contrasts; the vibrant cities of Mildura, Swan Hill and Bendigo anchor the region, surrounded by the lively smaller towns of Echuca and Castlemaine. The region is abundant in attributes with a strong heritage and burgeoning industries such as business services, health, education and tourism, as well as a large agricultural zone, making it primed to overcome the challenges presented by the stagnating national and international economic environment.

Despite this, Loddon Mallee, similar to many other areas of Australia, must continue to invest and innovate as well as develop expertise in other industries to remain prosperous into the future.

This CEDA event will focus on the potential for increasing regional productivity and economic growth through investment and innovation, and explore how regional development policies can help enable innovation. This will be followed by a discussion about the potential of the renewable energy sector to play an increasing role in the economic growth of the region by diversifying renewable energy options, overcoming barriers to investment and removing regulatory constraints of the sector.
