Event overview

CEDA's Women in Leadership Series aims to advance discussion about the cultural and organisational change required to progress more women to leadership positions as well as explore the representation of women in business and society. With Australia's stagnating productivity remaining a key issue, the economic argument compelling this change cannot be ignored.

At the first event in the 2013 Victorian Women in Leadership Series, we look at where we are in the ongoing debate about gender and leadership.

  • Are we making progress as quickly as we should be in challenging the barriers that organisations and society face in realising the potential of women?
  • Did Julia Gillard's lauded misogyny speech elevate gender issues to new heights or did it have the opposite effect?
  • Does the proliferation in the number of organisations advocating for, and raising the profile of gender issues help or hinder progress?

The past decade has seen negligible change for females in executive ranks and women still comprise only 9.2 per cent of executives in the ASX 500. Have we overcome the impediments and achieved tangible change or are we losing ground?

Please join CEDA as speakers Andrew Stevens and Elizabeth Proust AO, provide their views and opinions about how far we've come and where Australia sits in this global debate.
