What are the opportunities to enhance innovation and competition in Australia’s financial system?

The Australian Government has asked the Productivity Commission to undertake a 12 month inquiry into competition in Australia's financial system. The Commission will release its draft report in early 2018 before delivering its final recommendations to government in July 2018.

Chairman, Productivity Commission

Prior to his appointment to the Productivity Commission Peter Harris served as Secretary of the Commonwealth Department of Communications; and for Victorian Government agencies responsible for the environment, primary industries, and public transport. He had previously held roles with Ansett-Air New Zealand aviation group and with the Canadian Privy Council Office. Peter was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2013 for distinguished service to public administration through leadership and policy reform roles in the areas of telecommunications, the environment, primary industries and transport
