EVENT OVERVIEW

Learn firsthand from David Wirrpanda, NAIDOC's 2012 person of the year, and other Indigenous champions about the strategies being employed to raise the standards of Aboriginal health, education and employment, and how increased capacity building is changing their futures.

Despite a strong focus by the Federal Government and more than $22 billion in investment across all levels of government annually, improvement in the status quo for Indigenous Australians has been slow.

Standards of health, life expectancy, education and employment for Aboriginal people still remain at unacceptably low levels in comparison to societal norms, despite many decades of reforms designed to improve these areas.

To aid the Government's investment, an increasing number of inspired individuals and organisations in Western Australia have taken action to improve the status quo, and many are achieving amazing success with their initiatives.

This event will explore how improving the lives of indigenous people requires a collaborative, cohesive and targeted approach.
