Event overview
Join CEDA's panel of transport experts as we discuss future plans and solutions to help ease Perth's growing transport congestion in the final part of CEDA's Transport Infrastructure Challenges for WA series, 'Moving People'.
Perth's transport systems have struggled to cope with the growing population, and improving the public transport system has now become a major election issue. The State Government's announcement of a light rail system in Perth's northern corridor was welcomed, but will it ever be built?
The Opposition released plans for a major expansion of the metropolitan rail network in response, but is this network feasible?
With another 400,000 cars expected on Perth roads in the next 10 years, how can the road network be adapted to cope with these additional vehicles? Meanwhile, Perth Airport is under enormous pressure to increase capacity as the number of plane movements continues to increase at unprecedented levels.
What can be done to ease the congestion on Perth's transport networks? Will it be possible to move an additional 650,000 people in the metropolitan area by 2026?
