Join CEDA for this exclusive address as the Australian Ambassador to the People's Republic of China, Frances Adamson, provides unique insight into the economic standing of one of Australia's most important trade partners, China.
Australia has been one of the largest beneficiaries of China's economic transformation over the past three decades. However, China's leadership agrees its development model now needs to change if it is to continue delivering tangible improvements to the lives of its citizens.
Ambassador Adamson will look at the likely direction of China's economic reforms and new leadership to provide an overview of the impact for Australia.
Meet the speaker
Frances Adamson
Australian Ambassador to the People's Republic of China
Ms Adamson is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. She has previously served in Hong Kong and as Representative of the Australian Commerce and Industry Office, Taiwan.
She has also served in the United Kingdom including as Deputy High Commissioner from July 2005 to January 2009. Between January 2009 and December 2010 she was Chief of Staff to Stephen Smith, both as Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence.
Ms Adamson holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Adelaide and speaks Mandarin.
