EVENT OVERVIEW
Join CEDA for the first part of our WA Water Challenges Series as we examine water policy at a state and national level.
Are our water policies effectively responding to the challenges of the future and society's needs? What is a sustainable, progressive and adaptive management plan? How can water plans be capable of responding to future demands and supply scenarios? How can we ensure the policies implemented are affordable and maintain quality?
Access to cheap, clean and reliable water is an essential economic enabler, and vital to maintaining a high standard of living. WA's current water management systems were designed to accommodate a sparsely-populated, developing state. However, domestic and commercial demand has increased significantly at a time when our traditional sources of water - rainfall and groundwater - have declined. The state government has responded by developing desalination plans but what else can be done to secure WA's water supply?
