Event overview

The vast majority of Australian workers are engaged in the service sector which, in turn, generates the largest component of national wealth and creates a sector where exports increase. It is therefore of crucial importance that the service sector improves its productivity performance.

In analysing this issue, CEDA’s research report aims to assess the role of the service sector by considering:

  • What is the industry’s productivity scorecard?
  • How does Australia’s performance compare internationally?
  • What are the impediments to productivity growth?
  • What are the drivers of productivity growth?
  • Where are there productivity gains to be made?
  • What is the importance of services to exports?

The report, Improving service sector productivity: the economic imperative, will cover a variety of industries (including health, education, tourism, professional services and transport infrastructure), and CEDA’s event will focus on the economic contribution of service sector productivity in WA.

This event provides an opportunity to hear from report authors, leading thinkers and to put forward your questions.

All event attendees receive a copy of CEDA's research report.
