Event overview

CEDA is delighted to welcome GHD’s WA Market Leader, Nick Houldsworth and Holonic Co-Founder, Dylan Lamb as they share the vision, backed by numbers, on how and why WA can lead the charge in a circular economy.

The World Business Council for Sustainable Development identified the circular economy has a commercial opportunity of up to $4.5 trillion. Be a part of the conversation to discuss how WA can maximise our slice of the pie and what this means for business, job creation and community.

As the State embarks on a year which offers a sense of confidence and optimism, let us set the scene for the year ahead on programs delivering leading thinking and research to influence good public policy for WA’s economic and social development.

This briefing is by invitation only to CEDA Trustees. Trustees are senior leaders nominated by CEDA member organisations. At CEDA boardroom briefings Trustees hear from an informed, expert guest speaker in a private, small group setting. Invitations to boardroom briefings are a valued benefit of CEDA membership. Chatham House Rule applies.

Meet the speakers

Nick Houldsworth
WA Market Leader - Environment, GHD

Nick Houldsworth is the Environment Market Leader for GHD in Western Australia. He has over 20 years’ experience in circular economy, sustainability strategy and implementation, resource efficiency and sustainable decision making.

Nick’s experience includes the delivery of the Government and EU funded National Industrial Symbiosis Program (NISP) in London. He moved to Perth in 2008 and became the Global Managing Consultant for WorleyParsons’ Sustainability & Climate Change practice. His first project in WA was to develop an innovative sustainability management system for the Southern SeaWater Desalination Plant, which led to the development of a Sustainable Project Delivery framework to systematically drive sustainability into project delivery.

Nick was also recently one of the lead authors for Version 2 of the Infrastructure Sustainability Rating tool. Nick developed the new Resource Efficiency category, which sets the standards for a circular approach to waste and material use in the planning, design, construction and operation of infrastructure assets across Australia and New Zealand.

Dylan Lamb
Co-Founder, Systemic Designer, Holonic

Dylan graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) (Honours) from UWA, and has since worked as a Design Engineer in both the USA and Australia prior to co-founding Holonic. He has experience across mining, construction and professional services (consulting), specifically water.

He also holds qualifications in Human-centred Design, Design Thinking, Theory U (from MIT) and Circular Economy. Through his ability to see ideas and build rapport he is a natural connector of people and ideas and is very well networked locally and nationally in the innovation and Circular Economy ecosystem.

As a talented facilitator and host, he is weaving a network of Circular Economy pioneers through his monthly Circular Economy Perth meetup event series, now funded by the State Government's Waste Authority fund. He also hosts a local “Brilliant Perth” podcast, where he shares his vision for Perth becoming a brilliant centre for innovation globally. You can often find him at events across Australia, asking timely and purposeful questions.

Trustee event advice - Coronavirus

We at CEDA are proud to regularly convene and engage speakers and audiences as an essential element of our efforts to broaden discussion and debate of the most important policy issues facing Australia. In doing so, our first priority is always the safety and wellbeing of our guests and staff.

With that in mind CEDA has suspended all trustee events. However CEDA remains true to its purpose of providing platforms to inform and promote debate of critical issues and driving policy solutions and are continuing critical discussions for Australia’s economic, social and environmental development through a digital events program including exclusive livestreams, podcasts and video, as well as our virtual Trustee roundtable discussions.

CEDA will continue to closely monitor government advice regarding public gatherings and act on relevant health advice from the Australian government in relation to COVID-19.
