Meet the speakers

Michael Blythe
Chief Economist and Managing Director, Commonwealth Bank of Australia

Michael identifies trends in the Australian economy and leads research, economic analysis and forecasting at Australia’s largest bank. He has worked as Senior Economist at the Reserve Bank of Australia and long contributed the Economic overview to CEDA’s annual EPO report.

Melinda Cilento
Chief Executive, CEDA

Melinda is a company director, economist and experienced senior executive. She is a non-executive director of Australian Unity and Co-Chair of Reconciliation Australia. Melinda is also a member of the Parliamentary Budget Office panel of expert advisors. She was previously a Non-Executive Director with Woodside Petroleum, Commissioner with the Productivity Commission and Deputy CEO and Chief Economist with the Business Council of Australia. Melinda has also previously held senior roles with the Federal Department of Treasury, Invesco and the International Monetary Fund.

Jane Danvers
Principal and Presiding Member, Wilderness School and SACE Board of South Australia

Jane Danvers has served the Australian educational community for over 20 years. She is the Principal of Wilderness School, one of the most recognised girls’ schools in South Australia and was the inaugural Principal of University Senior College. Jane is the Presiding Member of the South Australian Certificate of Education Board, responsible for the senior secondary curriculum and assessment across South Australia, the Northern Territory and many schools in Asia. In 2013 she was awarded the AISSA Noel Volk Excellence Award and the Principals Australia Institute’s John Laing Award. Jane is also Chair of the Jam Factory.

David O'Loughlin
Chief Executive Officer, KWP!

David O'Loughlin has been with KWP! since 2013, a South Australian born company, providing a full range of communication and marketing solutions for business across Australia. Prior to this role he was the Head of Marketing and Communications with the South Australian Tourism Commission.

Geoff Rohrsheim
Co-Founder, Chamonix

Geoff shares his executive time across his own co-founded startups being Hatch Creations, Chamonix, Cevo and Expose Data. He is currently a Non-Executive Director of ASC and a member of South Australian Premier's Economic Advisory Council. Geoff is passionate about South Australia, the IT industry and how IT can improve business performance and society in general.

Dr Peter van Onselen
Political Editor , Network Ten

Dr Peter van Onselen is an Australian political academic, author and political journalist and commentator. He is currently the Political Editor at Network Ten. He is also a Contributing Editor at the Australian Newspaper and the Sunday Times' political analyst. Peter is also a Winthrop Professor and Foundation Chair of Journalism at the University of Western Australia. He has written several politically-themed books, including the best selling 'John Winston Howard' (co-written with Wayne Errington), which was rated by the Wall Street Journal Asia as the best biography of 2007.

Rt Hon Sandy Verschoor
Lord Mayor of Adelaide

Sandy was elected as an Area Councillor in the 2015 by-election and served as Deputy Lord Mayor from June 2017 to November 2018. She has had a career in both the public and private enterprise, not-for-profits, and Local and State government. Sandy has contributed to the success of Adelaide’s thriving arts and culture community for more than two decades, including having been CEO of the Adelaide Fringe and the Adelaide Festival, as well as producer of the Adelaide Festival of Ideas in 2018. She has been on numerous boards including the Adelaide Convention Bureau, Premier’s Climate Change Council, Adelaide Film Festival, Capital City Committee, as well as a trustee of the Adelaide Festival Centre Trust and Chairs a disability housing solutions organisation Aliro Ltd.
