Event overview

With a population set to exceed five billion in 30 years’ time, Asia will account for more than half of the world’s economy. It is imperative that WA continues to build upon the strong relationships with its Asia neighbours and take hold of the opportunities that Asian markets offer to increase economic resilience and stability.

WA has long standing connections with many countries in the Asian region, built on a foundation of mutual economic interest and cemented through social, cultural and political ties.

The prospects to deepen and diversify the relationship are great across key priority sectors, cultural partnerships, and enhanced people-to-people relationships. For the first time, the State Government has developed a long-term strategy to drive WA’s economic growth and diversification.

Minister Tinley will present the Asian Engagement Strategy and leaders from across industry and academia will reflect on the impact and importance of the Asian region to WA’s future prosperity.
