CEDA member profile: Mitsubishi Australia Ltd

Robert Tsubonuma, Managing Director and CEO, Mitsubishi Australia Ltd

What does your company do?

Mitsubishi Corporation, a global integrated business enterprise, has successfully executed trade and investment operations in Australia for over 60 years in the energy, metals, infrastructure and machinery, chemicals, and living essentials fields. Mitsubishi Australia, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation, has drawn on the parent company’s broad experience to build substantial businesses, with Australia being a significant recipient of our investment.

What is your role with the company

I commenced the role of Managing Director and CEO of Mitsubishi Australia in April 2016. My mission is to lead Mitsubishi Australia in advancing successful business opportunities while at the same time achieving a long-lasting positive impact on Australia. This is my third assignment in Australia in my career and I feel very connected to this country.

What are your company’s top priorities for the coming year?

We have been quite active in the resource business such as development and production of coal and LNG, and our challenge is to build our portfolio in non-resource sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture and innovation. Australia is a country with huge potential and we will continue to seek out new business opportunities in the coming year.
