Information about using this website

This website is operated by the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia (CEDA). These terms govern the use of this website. If you do not agree to these terms, immediately discontinue using this website.

As you use this website, please understand that:

  • The site is not designed to provide the sort of answers you can absolutely rely on in running a business. We do make best efforts to keep the site's material accurate and reliable; we just don't guarantee that it's that way.
  • You agree not to post on the site any content that may be obscene, defamatory or posted in a manner designed to give you commercial advantage without providing information useful to the CEDA audience.
  • CEDA is entitled to use any content that you post to this site.
  • CEDA is committed to protecting your privacy while you use our website, products and services. We will keep private and secure any personal information the site gathers about you. CEDA OPINION ARTICLES TERMS AND CONDITIONS

CEDA’s founder Sir Douglas Copland set up the organisation in 1960 with a purpose to harness the ideas and influence of leading thinkers from business, government, community and academia. Its purpose remains unchanged. Today CEDA continues to deliver leading thinking, informed discourse and rigorous research to influence good public policy for Australia’s economic and social development.

CEDA encourages you to post comments, in doing so you will be contributing to an independent, informed policy debate platform. Please make sure you are considerate and respect others and their opinions.

CEDA reserves the right to moderate, edit, delete, reject or remove any comments on the CEDA opinion articles. As a general guide, comments must relate to the topic of the article otherwise they will not be approved for publishing during moderation.

If you think a comment that has been posted is offensive or breached the terms and conditions, please email us at info@ceda.com.au with a link to the comment and your reasons for objecting to it. CEDA will then consider if there are grounds for removing the comment or take appropriate action.

Your obligations

When posting comments to the CEDA opinion articles section, you agree to be bound to the following terms and conditions.

You will not post any comments which are:

  • Defamatory or offensive to any person;
  • Obscene, offensive, pornographic, vulgar, profane, indecent or otherwise illegal;
  • Not your original work or which violate copyright, a registered trademark or intellectual property rights of another person or entity;
  • Racially or religiously vilifying, incites violence or hatred, or is likely to offend, insult or humiliate others on the basis of race, religion, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation or any physical or mental disability; and
  • False, misleading or deceptive; and
  • By posting a comment you accept all material on this site is copyright to CEDA. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty free, worldwide licence to reproduce and deal with any material you submit to us by all means whatsoever.

You will not use the comments section of the CEDA opinion articles section for:

  • Advertising, promotion or selling of any goods and services or engage in trade and commerce by any means; and 
  • Providing financial advice.

CEDA’s rights

  • CEDA can edit, delete, reject or remove any comment posted or to be posted in the comments areas.
  • CEDA has the right and discretion to terminate your access to the comments section if we believe you have breached these terms and conditions or are abusing or misusing the platform in any way.
  • CEDA has the right to reproduce and deal with any material you submit to the CEDA opinion articles section.

CEDA opinion articles republishing guidelines

Today CEDA continues to deliver leading thinking, informed discourse and rigorous research to influence good public policy for Australia’s economic and social development.

Under Creative Commons, the CEDA opinion articles is an open source for people to republish, read, interact with and analyse the key issues facing Australia. CEDA welcomes you to republish our articles online and in print for free.

You can republish individual articles without CEDA’s permission. However, if you wish to republish articles on a regular basis, for example once a week or every article from a single author, please contact us.

Republishing guidelines for print and online

You can republish individual CEDA opinion articles as long as you:

  1. Credit CEDA – the Committee for Economic Development of Australia at the top of the article and include our logo 
  2. Link back to the CEDA website www.ceda.com.au or opinion article post URL
  3. Credit our author in the byline
  4. Confirm that you are licenced to republish images in our articles. To check permissions, please contact us.

You cannot:

  • Sell CEDA opinion article content. It’s ok for the content to appear on a page with ads but it cannot be sold separately
  • Edit CEDA opinion article material except to reflect changes in time, location and editorial style, for example today to yesterday or Melbourne to here. If you need to edit our content, please email us.

Images and video content

In some cases you can republish images and video content depending on permissions. Please contact us to inquire about the availability of a specific video, image or infographic. Because of copyright issues related to various aspects of multimedia, not all features are available for reuse.
