On the 16th March 2023, CEDA was honoured to host Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, as he delivered a major economic address.
After introductions from Vice Chancellor and President of Griffith University, Professor Carolyn Evans, the Federal Treasurer addressed topics including, the Government’s economic and fiscal priorities two months out from the May Budget, the global economic circumstances in which the Government’s second Budget is being pulled together and canvassing some of the key features of the Budget – including confronting the inflation challenge, how we can become more productive and grow the right way out of the downturn, and the continued work to put the federal Budget on a more sustainable footing.
The event also featured a Q & A session with Chalmers, facilitated by CEDA's Chief Economist, Jarrod Ball, words of thanks from Deborah Leerhsen, Executive General Manager, Global Client Solutions for Commonwealth Bank and was concluded by CEDA Chief Operations Officer, Sharon Smyth.
