With the Tasmanian housing market at the epicentre of rising interest rates, homelessness, and a cost-of-living crisis, rents in Hobart have increased by over 60 percent since 2016. In response to this, CEDA’s recent event dived into a deep examination of factors that have contributed to this crisis.
Featuring the Tasmanian Minister for Housing and Construction, Local Government, Sport and Recreation, and Stadia and Events, the Hon. Nic Street, the event also benefited from the expertise of other subject matter experts from Housing Choices Australia, Housing Australia, and the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania.
As part of his remarks, the minister proposed a mix of short-term and long-term solutions with the potential to alleviate rental stress, leading to an engaging Q&A with attendees.
