The Future of the NDIS: The Hon. Bill Shorten

"The NDIS was never the end of the journey about disability reform in this country. It was a marvellous step forward...I've pledged to work with people with disability, their families, their carers, their advocates, the service providers, so that their voices are heard throughout the review process and beyond. I'm determined that that is the way that we will continue to work."

The Hon. Bill Shorten, Federal Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme and Minister for Government Services, addressed CEDA's Melbourne audience about the recent findings of the NDIS review, seeking to improve the scheme’s effectiveness while securing outcomes for participants and restoring trust and confidence in the scheme.

The Minister acknowledged improvements to the scheme, including trials of blended payments, moving young people in residential aged care into more appropriate housing and efforts to reduce combat fraud and waste.
