The Great Resignation? A job market update

As Australia learns to live with COVID-19 and deals with the immediate impacts of the Omicron variant, job vacancies remain at some of the highest levels ever recorded. Similar vacancy levels in the US and UK have been dubbed ‘The Great Resignation’ and have been attributed to burnout as a result of the pandemic and a widespread re-evaluation of what people want from a job. Has Australia seen a Great Resignation and does this compound the unprecedented labour shortages we are seeing across the country due to the rise in COVID-19 cases?

Join CEDA and Senior Economist, Melissa Wilson as we go behind the figures and unpack the social and structural issues contributing to high vacancy rates, the industries hit hardest, and the policy solutions needed to fill critical job shortages.
